I want to start by saying I like multilevel marketing programs, and am involved in several currently. After being involved i wanted to write this article about the MLM truth. There is one primary situation that all people face.

The problem is creating a real bond to the product. MLM distributors have discussed this in length, and the company wants them to use the product and feel good about it.

Usually the situation is distributors will try the product and tell themselves that it's the best thing around even if you know it is not. They are intelligent enough to know that no one makes an income if folks are not utilizing the product and promoting it on the retail level.

The main attachment for the products at this time is centered around the urge to make a bigger income. The distributor is thrilled with the pay structure and the income possibility it gives.

Many individuals get into an MLM program with the idea of giving their boss the boot and working for themselves. Others are content to make extra cash so they can pay some bills.

The result is they end up being users of the product so their downlines have a good example to follow. But many products that networking companies provide are not products that most would use normally if you were not in a business opportunity.

This makes for a serious retention problem when members are not capable of enrolling or sponsoring new people under them. Since they got into the opportunity to have a bigger income it becomes difficult to justify spending money on a product when no cash is coming in.

There is a simple solution to this situation. Only join an MLM company that promotes products you might use anyway without doing anything different.

An example of retention problems would be joining a nutritional company. Lots of folks are interested in having better health. But, most do not want to spend $50-$100 a month on a product that may not really be helping them.

This is what I see as the MLM truth and the number one situation with most programs. You basically resolve the problem by only signing up for programs that promote products you can use even if you never made a dime on it!
