The Key to Losing Weight Fast

Expert Author Maureen Wielansky

I am sure you have heard the saying one person's eating plan can be another person's poison. However, with all the diets and eating plans that litter the bookshelves, finding a program that feeds you, fuels you and support your weight loss may seem impossible. Do you think that maybe you need a PhD. just to decode all this mystery? Actually one questionnaire can reveal your ideal eating plan.

The Metabolic Type Diet is based on the work of Walter Willett. Dr. Willett professes that we are all unique and thus need a unique eating plan. He has developed a simple yet powerful tool that I use with my clients which always reveals some big AHA's.

For our purposes, I am giving you the simplified version, but basically the Metabolic Type Diet categorizes people according to their rate of cellular oxidation In other words, how fast is food converted into energy.

The food we eat is fuel that allows all of our various systems to run effectively. When you put diesel into a non-diesel car, the car stalls. That is exactly what happens with your food plan. Have you ever walked away from a lunch still hungry then berate yourself? You didn't fail, rather the food failed you. Simply, you were not eating in a way that honors your body chemistry. To lose weight fast, you first have to eat according to your oxidation rate.

The metabolic type eating program has 3 types of protocol. Read the descriptions and notice which one you most relate.

Protein Type:

The protein Princesses are fast oxidizers so they need to eat more protein and can tolerate higher fat foods. I am a protein Princess and for years I would just berate myself for needing food; why couldn't a salad satisfy?

So we, as protein princesses need to eat protein at each meal and we can have full fat salad dressing (as long as it contains the healthy fats!) A great ratio for us would be 40/30/30 protein to carbohydrate to fat ratios.

A great test right now is to think about what meals satisfy you. Can you get by with a salad and a little protein? What about breakfast; can you be satisfied with some fruit and yogurt? Not me! I have to have my protein!

Carbohydrate Type:

The Carbohydrate Queens oxidize food into energy slowly so eating a high protein meal may make them feel sluggish and give them tummy aches. Carbohydrate Queens function optimally at a ratio of 60/20/10 carbohydrate to protein to fat ratio.

The carbohydrate queen functions best with a more vegetarian meal such as oatmeal and fruit or a salad with beans. A low fat diet is also key for the carbohydrate queens.

Mixed Types:

The Mixed Type Mavens need a balance of carbohydrates, protein and fat. When they go venture too far one way or the other, these mavens will feel sluggish or hungry.

This test also delves into your personality traits, bodily functions such as sneezing and even the difference in your ear color to your face color!

These descriptions are simplified; a few more pieces do play a part in your metabolic types, but you want to lose weight fast, right? Experiment with your bodily laboratory and let me know your type.
