The Joy Of A New Baby

The moment you find out you are pregnant is something you will never forget. Even if it is not your first time - its just magical and wonderful to know that a tiny new life if growing inside you.

Being pregnant is something to savour and make the most of. Its not an illness - its the most natural thing that can happen to our bodies (in fact its what they are built for!) I get very annoyed when people moan about being pregnant - I loved every minute of it. In fact when my daughter was born, I missed having my bump and waking up in the morning to feel her kicking and moving!

Yes of course you will feel tired and there is morning sickness to deal with, but both of these are temporary and once you have those first few weeks out of the way, you can then got on with preparing to become a Mum.

Exercise is very important during pregnancy but naturally take it easy. I love running but there was no way obviously that that could continue! Swimming is a good form of exercise to do, and I found water aerobics very beneficial. Its great fun, low impact and its lovely to have the weight of the bump taken away by the water - especially in the later stages. Its also fun to see the nervous faces on the instructors who wonder if they are going to be learning a new skill of childbirth!

Eating the right foods and drinking plenty of fluids are also important factors to take into account. Eating for two is something that does not really pass muster these days....... Stick to a healthy balanced diet and you will not feel the need to really pack in the sweets and treats. That's not saying of course that the odd treat should not be indulged in.

There is so much being written and talked about these days with regards to pregnancy and alcohol that's its very confusing to try and work out just what is for the best. Not being at all medically qualified I am not going to talk about what should be done, but I will say that I did have the odd glass of wine and soda (spritzer) which I did enjoy.

If you look at your pregnancy in a positive light and really get on and enjoy it, you will find that the times flies by and before you know it, you will have a new bundle of joy in your arms.
