The In-Between

Be honest, life is not "trauma free". No one lives without experiencing something disturbing (no matter whether it's mental, physical, within, outer, directly, or indirectly) and many times it is without warning.

Why terrible and "off the wall" situations happen to us is a long conversation in itself with many "ins and outs" within the answers...The point is they happen!

When they happen-this means we have to go through it at some point...but how exactly do we overcome something which is detrimental to us?...You cannot overcome it without going through it first. You cannot experience the end of boot camp without first going through the middle of boot camp.

When something shocking happens to us-of course we want to be at the end of it. But we can't be at the end of it without first going through the middle of it-being "in-between" it. You cannot enter the future without first going through the present.

A tree seed does not become a tree without first going through the process of being "planted". You may not have ever looked at this way, but being planted is a brutal process for a seed.

Being planted involves the seed being submerged deep under dirt in total darkness and then struggling to break through its shell. After this struggle, it must now acquire the vital nutrients out of the dirt it's buried under so it can grow enough to break through the surface of the dirt and continue to flourish into a tree.

Apply this process of the seed to your own life where necessary: The reasons as to how and why the seed entered the dirt have its place and its purpose, but regardless of these reasons-the seed must break out of its shell and emerge from the dirt!

Being "in-between" the beginning and ending is the most excruciating part. You're not exactly what you were (a seed) and you're not exactly what you're going to be (a tree). A tree seed looks fine. A newly emerged tree out of the ground looks fine...but the broken seed underneath the dirt looks gruesome. It looks like a mutation...it's ugly.

The point of the matter is that this "in between" cannot be escaped. Life is notorious for delivering devastating "sucker punches" and K.O's to us. However, as I've mentioned before, not getting knocked down is important but getting back up is more important.

There are times we have been and will be automatically "planted" under the dirt. There's no way around it.

Yet, an emerged tree is always better in every way than it was as a seed. As a seed it had no roots, but as a tree it has deep strong roots which prevent it from being easily knocked over. Think of how strong and powerful a tree is.

Think of all multiple benefits we get from wood. If all the trees on Earth were gone-we would all suffocate because they are what provide us oxygen. Trees bear fruit for us, animals, and insects to consume. Trees provide us shade from the heat. Trees are home to many animals and insects.

...all of these things a tree can do...not a seed! However, the tree wouldn't have become what it was if it hadn't gone through the "in between" first! The tree wouldn't have become what it was if it hadn't broken free from its shell while under the dirt.

We will all become "planted" in some kind of way in life. However, what you do during this "in-between" is crucial. What you do during this "in between" determines if you will eventually emerge from underneath the dirt...

Again, the "in between" cannot be escaped. It is not a pretty time...it's the worst time. Yet, it can be overcome. Think about that-it can't be escaped, but it can be overcome...and what you become can be something more profound than what you were before you were "planted".

Seeds have only a couple of uses, but trees have numerous uses. However, NO tree became what it was without first going through the "in-between".

...and always remember that what you don't understand can hurt you.
