If your traffic activity looks too suspicious, you could get yourself banned.
The use of social bookmarking sites is a more acceptable way to get a lot of traffic, but again the quality isn't great. In most instances the types of visitors originating from social bookmarking sites are ad blind. Some may even use ad filters when surfing on the net and are notorious for been poor ad clickers. Many of those that use social bookmarking sites are 'power' users and interacting with AdSense ads is often the last thing on their minds.
The best source for quality AdSense traffic, is the old fashioned yet extremely versatile Search Engines. Visitors coming through Search Engines, are seeking 'something' they expect to find on your website. If they use terms that describes the content of your site, then if you're lucky your website will turn up during a search query. These types of visitors 'want' what your website has to offer and therefore makes the best type of AdSense traffic.
So if you want traffic that will interact positively with your AdSense ads, try and optimize your site so that it performs well with the Search Engines.
