The Imaging World of Medicine

The body doesn't have to be cut open to see what is going on inside. We have amazing imaging that can precisely pinpoint pain, cancer, tumors, blood diseases, bone malfunction, tooth decay and a wide host of other abnormalities long before symptoms are felt.

I am a woman in my late 40's. I have been putting off a mammogram for about 5 years. I don't know why, no real fear, I just hate wasting time sitting in the hospital waiting. I am sort of an impatient person, I hate waiting for anyone and especially for doctors. But I have been having a little irritation lately and just want to get things check out. I hear all the time of cancers and tumors being found at regularly scheduled mammograms. I guess I just figured, no news is good news. That is a pretty stupid approach to health. I am actually very health conscience, I exercise daily, eat healthy and generally take care of myself. I just sort of skip doctors in general. So off I go today for some body imaging that can tell immediately if there is any problems. I sure hope not, but peace of mind is worth the trip. I recently attended the funeral of a beloved aunt who waited too long to see her doctor. By the time she did, she had stage 4 breast cancer. I don't want to follow her foot steps. With all the amazing technology available like nuclear medicine imaging, mammograms, PET/CT scans, x-ray, CAT scans, and so forth, there is no reason to put off taking care of ourselves.
