Then the fishing begins and the regulating follows. When you imagine the treacherous conditions at sea, you will see just what type of effort goes into this system.
The bottom line is the world's most productive fisheries are also the most sustainable. Alaska seafood species like King Salmon, halibut, scallops, king crab and shrimp continue to impress consumers and environmental observers alike. Since seafood stocks are dwindling in so many places, it would do them good to look at a system that works and base their own enterprises off that model. In the seafood industry, it's the Alaska model which sets the standard.
