Get up early every morning: never wait till noon to start your day. It has been proven that getting an early start just like going to a regular job will be more profitable for your business.
Have a separate phone line for your business: even though you are working from home, it will sound more professional when you answer your phone. It will also feel more like you are at a business, rather than working from your home.
Stay focused: When you are having a hard time focusing, get up, take a break. Grab some coffee, give yourself 5-7 minutes, and come back. You will be surprised how a little brain clearing can help you refocus.
Believe in your product: Choose something that you have legitimate passion for. This will make your product that much easier to sell, which will boost your confidence.
When given the chance, have your meetings over a cup of coffee, or lunch. This will help you stay connected with people in the business world.
Take advantage of business conventions that carry your line of product. Set up a booth pleasing to the eye, yet simple. Introducing your product to the world is a huge step, even if you only generate one or two leads at your first convention. Don't give up. Attend at least one convention a year. If attending conventions is where you find that you gather most of your customer leads, pick and choose your conventions, some of this will be done by trial and error the first few times.
Be prepared: for days when you don't get a response from the contact you were hoping for. Take every lead, and take it as far as you can, it is surprising what an unlikely lead can turn into. Think of every lead as your biggest customer.
Just like any job, if at all possible leave work at work, and set business hours for yourself. You can become completely overwhelmed by a home based business and still not have time for family, or vacations, working more than you did on a regular job.
Remember when you say "Yes" to something you are saying "No" to something else.
