The Consequences of Not Having a Tenant Screening Procedure
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Have you ever lived in a building and passed by some neighbors only to wonder how they ever got into the building in the first place? Think back to when you were first applying and if they did not have any tenant screening in place, you have your answer. Without doing resident screening, you simply have no idea who you are going to be getting.

Relying on the information that is supplied on the application is an extremely foolish move if you are a landlord. People can put anything that they want down on the paper and if it is known that you are not running a rental background check on them, you are going to get every questionable character around that needs a roof over their head.

When a landlord does this, they open themselves up to some real horrors. The first and most obvious concern would be a renter that is not paying their bills on time or at all. It is quite the process to get them out and it can often take months of them not paying their rent for you to even be able to start the process of eviction. Once you do, it can be months more before you are able to get them out of the building.

Another reason to run a complete tenant background check on them is for fear that they have just a little more than bad credit behind them. This is especially true if you are renting your own house. Do you really want someone moving into your home that has a questionable past? As the landlord, you have every right to refuse anyone that you do not want and when it comes to both your home and family, you have every right to protect it.

Running tenant background checks is the smart and inexpensive way to give yourself a little assurance that your new tenant is a good person and that they are going to pay their rent on time. Once they are in, it is too late to do anything about and the only way to make certain that you have the right person moving in is tenant screening.

Rental History Reports specializes in Minnesota resident screening for local clients, and also on a national level. Their emphasis on maximizing the latest technology to provide a seamless experience for the end user, combined with a strong commitment to customer service makes them a true leader in the resident screening industry.
