If you have been surfing the net looking for the latest stuttering therapies you will have no doubt been quite shocked at the large amount of, what can only be described as, "scam products". For those of us who have been unfortunate enough to have had a stutter will know just how complex a problem it is - something which for a start will take a lot longer than ten minutes to cure!
So after wading through all of the "trash" you may actually find something that works. Yes stuttering can be overcome but it takes a fair amount of time and one heck of a lot of hard work to eradicate it. But before you cry off into your beer or your cornflakes (depending on your age) ask yourself this one simple question? How much do you hate having this form of speech impediment? Yes I thought so - therefore one would presume that all of this hard work and all of this time that it is likely to take to achieve fluency will be worth it.
I had a stutter for eighteen years, between the ages of four and twenty-two. It used to frustrate me big time - I could talk as fluent as the next man when I was on my own, talking to myself. But at times, when talking to other people, I could hardly say a word. There were certain sounds like for example words beginning with "b" which I found extremely difficult to say.
The traditional speech and language therapists were nice enough but unfortunately had not been provided with an adequate level of training to really help people who have a stutter.
In the end I decided to help myself - to attempt to find my own "cure for stuttering" if you like - after around twelve months I had realised my lifetime goal of achieving fluency.
