The Completion Series - Part III

The mere fact that you are here reading an article about self-improvement tells me that you want something more than to just live a normal life. To live an extraordinary life, you need to take a step beyond.

If there is a bigger vision that you are about, it is only because of your fear that you have not reached it. The only way out of the fear is to move through it. There are two ways to get there.

1. Wait until we are in so much pain that there is no other direction to go besides into that pain. You will notice that while there is fear in the way, there are also excuses, like "I'm not going to do that even though I know it's a total benefit to me because it costs too much money." However, there is a drastic change in people who reach that limit of pain and you can hear the shift with things like, "I am at rock bottom and it is worth any amount of money. Just get me out of this pain." Often, people won't move until the pain gets so big that they will do anything to get out of the pain.

2. Before you get to that extreme, work to reduce the fear of change. We tend to think it to death. Don't ask why, just do something drastically different. Like, running around the building screaming how much fear stinks! Don't let looking foolish stand in your way because doing an action like this relieves stress like you wouldn't believe. If you feel it, express it! Don't wait until it is appropriate. By running around the building you will feel aliveness, a new breath, and tingling body sensations. Screaming that fear stinks releases fears' grip on you. Learn to close the gap between feeling and expressing. Don't wait for the appropriate time, just do it now. What you will then be feeling is aliveness! It far beats 60 minutes of internal self-beat-up that gets you nowhere.

In the fear of being alive, we play small and shut down. Your willingness to do crazy stuff is equal to your willingness to feel aliveness.

Our biggest struggles come from emotional incompletes. "I don't want to look this way," etc. This is literally "Worshipping the God of What will other people think?" By doing something different than sitting in your self-beat-up and worry, you are literally reprogramming. You will step up to do what you say you will do and you will become visible. GET VISIBLE! A few moments of changing your physicality in a drastic way can have such a lasting impact that things will immediately begin to resolve themselves.

Once you declare things as being incomplete, they begin to start to complete themselves. We have patterns of things being difficult. Just put what needs to be accomplished on paper and you have begun to start putting things in motion. Things will start moving.

What is your particular motivation to want to do this? The only thing that keeps us from doing what we want to do is a good reason. This reason is not just an idea it is a Purpose to be Alive and to be Happy. Your reason "why" must be bigger than your fear. Maybe it is to get closer to others. Maybe it is to be accomplished at something. What is it for you? Get very clear so that there is a real value for you.

I encourage you whole-heartedly to let go of anything that is standing in the way of your aliveness. If you want to make an impact or have great relationships, think about how much more fun and attractive it truly is to be with someone who is truly alive. Take a risk and do something you haven't done before.

Make your statement: "I want to be___________."

It isn't enough to just take action...but Essential Action. This is the first thing that you know that you need to do. As an example, if you drop your pencil and your house is on fire, you don't stop to pick up the pencil before going to put out the fire. You do the Essential Action first.

My next step is to list Essential Actions. This is the top 3 things that will give me the biggest bang out of life to break through the fear. What actions would clear up the most energy for me?

How do I want this to occur? What would make this the most doable for me? (Such as I want this to be easy, peaceful, fun, spontaneous, rewarding, adventurous, etc.) You make it up so you may as well design how you want it to be.

Next, commit to yourself as follows:

"I commit to becoming masterful at completions by clearing up anything in the way of my ability to do so."

Making a commitment has a huge organizing power. Things start to show up and move you along the way. Making a commitment opens a space for it to happen, a possibility that the Universe can fill. Things just start falling into place simply because you made the commitment. The intention to complete creates energy and is extremely liberating. Make it easy. Tell someone what you are doing and commit before them as a witness. There is such power in this that having an accountability partner to help you stay on track can be very helpful. When you are sincere, your whole body is aware of it and things will begin to structure differently in your life.

Most who are unconscious about their level of completion, run at about a 10% completion rate. If that is you, don't panic. Just work at expanding this. About half of what you think you will have to do you won't actually wind up doing. As you begin working at things, you will find other things on your list of completions just happen along the way and you can cross those off as well.

When you complete a chunk of something, celebrate it! Create aliveness in your life. Don't wait until everything on your list is complete. Celebrate each phase as it closes and each new one as it opens. If something seems too big, chunk it down smaller. Make a ritual that you can do each and every time you complete. Do "the happy dance!" when you make the phone call you've been putting off! Support one another in your community to move forward. Celebrate their success with them and invite them to celebrate your own successes as well.
