The Climate of Germany
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

The country of Germany is located in Central Europe and has the typical climate of warm summers and cool winters.

The climate of Germany is a beautiful blend of the maritime climate of United Kingdom and Northern France and continental climate of Austria and the countries farther east. It is well placed climatologically. It is neither too far away from the sea so as to have no moderating influence over its winter climate, nor is it very near to it so to have rainy and gloomy winters like Britain and North-western France. Similarly the summers are warm but not as warm as other continental countries to the east and the winters also quite moderate as compared to Russian cities located on the same parallel. The coldest month at Berlin (located at 53 N) is 30 F (-1 C) while Beijing which is continental just like Berlin but located much lower in latitude at 39 N has coldest month at 24 F and Kazan at the same parallel has 7 F. Similarly in summer almost all continental stations on the same latitude are hotter than Berlin. Berlin has quite a comfortable temperature of 66 F in the hottest month, while all the eastern Europe has above 70 F. Belgrade is at 72 F and Bucharest 73 F.

The rainfall is uniform throughout the year with a slight maximum in mid-summer. No month at Berlin records les than 1 inch or more than 3 inch. The cloudiness is much less than UK for instance and days continue to be sunny in summer as well as in winter.

The climate of Germany, therefore, is bright and sunny with no extremes of temperatures.
