The Cheaper Alternative - The New LG BL20 Chocolate
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

After making its first official appearance on an engineering site of LG last September, the LG BL20 Chocolate finally has a press release and its own product page in LG's website to show all the specifications. It is smaller, simpler and less complex than the earlier Chocolate handset, the LG BL40. It is expected to arrive in the UK in the fourth quarter of 2009.

This newest addition to the Chocolate family follows the highly successful launch of the stylish LG BL40 Chocolate at the beginning of September. For those who loved the design of the BL40 and would like to have one but can't afford it, a cheaper alternative would be to get the BL20 instead.

What Does the BL20 Chocolate Look Like?

The second New Chocolate handset, which features a sliding keypad, measures in at 106.9 mm x 50.8 mm x 12.3 mm. It references the original BL40's design characteristics - namely the glossy black surface with red accent. This time, the color scheme was reinterpreted into a sliding keypad handset in red. The BL20 has refined the red navigation keys, which are part of the overall design language of LG. These navigation keys are revealed once the BL20 slides open. It has truly evolved from the iconic, classic design of its predecessors, tastefully combining improved interactive features with a chic, minimalist look targeting style-conscious users.

What Are the Technical Specifications of the BL20 Chocolate?

The BL20 has touch-sensitive controls, a microSD card slot that can support up to 16 GB cards, Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity with A2DP support and an FM radio.

The new LG BL20 Chocolate can support up to 5 hours of talk-time from its 900 mAh battery. It features a 5.0 megapixel camera that comes with autofocus and LED flash in a very slim casing that measures just 12.3 mm in depth.

Unfortunately, the BL20 has no 3G HSDPA, with the handset topping out at EDGE data.

According to Jeremy Newing, head of marketing of LG Mobile UK and Ireland, the BL20 was launched in order to provide users with a "design alternative to the already successful BL40 with its widescreen display."

What Are the Unique Features of the BL20 Chocolate?

Its impressive 5.0 megapixel camera comes with Clear Memo Capture which would allow the BL20 to take remarkably clearer shots of handwritten notes, texts and diagrams The Clear Memo Capture is a really interesting tool that you should enjoy using as it offers a different and effective way to record information.

The BL20 features touch-sensitive controls that are discreetly concealed around the sides of the unit. You can instinctively feel the slightly raised buttons to manipulate such things as camera zoom and volume control.

Another great feature of the BL20 is the Widget Hotkeys, which enables users to personalise their phone so that they can have direct access to their favourite features such as weather, personal updates or news.

As Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics said, "The New LG Chocolate BL20 offers consumers another way to experience the luxurious style and high performance that is symbolic of the LG Chocolate series but at a more affordable price."
