If you'll be fishing in the Bull Shoals area, between the dam and the state park, this is a catch and release area only. Only synthesised lures and flies are allowed in this area, and you aren't permitted to keep a brown trout that's under sixteen inches in length. There's a hundred miles of brook here, with many places to buy bait and tackle together with some places to lie your head down at night.
Boats aren't uncommon to see along the White River, this is essentially the simplest way to get to all the hot spots. Using waders isn't an excellent idea, unless you can see the base of the river. The brook can be fast running and can knock you out of control if you aren't careful. The weather averages around 50 degrees throughout the year, and the most frantic time of the year would be from late fall to early spring.
