The 6 Pack Abs Workout - 5 Great Exercises to Develop the Abdominals

Many people desire to have that wonderful and most sought after body that they see in movies and in advertisements. It may be hard to believe, but anyone can achieve this look. There are dozens of exclusive exercises that are intended specifically to assist an individual in achieving those chiseled abs. A 6 pack ab workout has to be performed in conjunction with warm up exercises and a balanced diet for ideal results.

First and foremost a person intending to get a perfect figure must reduce overall body fat. You cannot just burn the fat that has accumulated around the abdomen. Unfortunately, one cannot tell the body to focus fat burning on one specific area alone.

Detailed below is a list of 6 pack ab workouts. These start from the easiest exercise for a beginner, to more difficult routines for more experienced people.

The Normal Sit up

Lie flat on the back hooking the feet under a weighty piece of furniture, bending the knees at a comfortable angle. With the hands crossed over the chest, moving forward in a curling motion so that your trunk is at 90 degrees to the floor. Hold this pose for a couple of seconds before returning to starting position.

Crunches

Lie on the back resting the calves on a bench. The thighs should be at right angles to the floor. Interlacing fingers behind the head pull the hips off the floor with the assistance of the lower abdominal muscles, while raising the shoulders and the back with the help of the upper stomach muscles. Simultaneously force the shoulder to move towards the hip. Stay in this position for a count of three; relax slowly returning to original position. Each movement in this exercise utilizes different muscles, strengthening them in the process.

Side Bends

This is performed by standing on the floor with feet one foot apart and hands on the sides of the body. Bend sideways to one side and while doing so slide the arm down the length of the leg. When you find you cannot bend further come back to standing position and do a similar bend to the other side.

Rollouts with Ab Wheel

You will need an ab wheel for this exercise. Start this workout by going down on your knees and placing your hands in front of you on the ab wheel. Now gradually roll out the wheel till you find your body parallel to the floor. Just as you rolled forward, roll back to the starting pose. Repeat a few times or as suggested.

The Ball Transfer Crunch

This is done with the stability ball between the legs when you are on your back and your arms are above the head. In one sweeping movement raise the legs with ball and your shoulder towards the legs grasping the ball with your hands and returning to starting position. Repeat this workout alternating the ball between the legs and hands.

These are just a few of the workouts in the 6 pack ab workout regime. But remember to keep an eye on your diet as it is one of the factors that play a major role in helping you reveal your awesome abs.

Every body is different and reacts to diet and exercise changes in its own individual way. Try not to compare yourself with images you might see in the media. Instead, visualize yourself with the body you would like and keep this in your mind as you workout. Keep at it and one day you will not have to visualize your perfect body any more, you will just have to take a look in the mirror.
