Could your current diet be killing you? There is overwhelming evidence pointing to the fact that we just aren't doing much right when it comes to nutrition. A big problem is that we are now able to isolate the sweetness in the foods that we love. Food simply tastes soo good and this taste comes at a serious cost.
The majority of us are addicted to sugary foods. They provide a quick burst of energy and this is a requirement for a lot of people. Most of us cannot wake up in the morning without some sort of extra stimulation and this seems perfectly normal. The fact that you need this extra energy is a huge indicator that your body is seriously malnourished, it simply should not be needed.
The food that is consumed throughout the day should keep energy levels up for an extended period of time. One of the big problems is that we skip meals. We don't eat when we're hungry, we eat when we are not hungry. There are serious issues with the way that we fuel our bodies.
The 2 reasons why we eat when we're not hungry
The obvious answer would be that we have a sweet tooth and sweet foods taste good so they are very addicting. What we need to address is the real underlying cause as to why these foods are so addicting. It is very possible to beat this addiction and the key is in the way we eat.
1. The body craves stimulants due to poor nutrition
This has everything to do with the quality of the energy in the foods that we consume. The stimulants that we are addicted to provide a rush in energy but this is a short-term solution to a long-term problem and by taking this solution, things are only getting worse.
When you eat a sugary food product the energy is almost instantly released in the body resulting in a sugar rush. The resulting, high level of sugar in the blood is dangerous to your health. This is therefore quickly dealt with by the body. What happens is that a hormone is released that stores this excess energy away in your liver, muscles and fat cells. Once the energy is stored, your blood sugar drops below its optimal level and this gives you the common symptoms of low energy levels and lack of concentration. The body is telling you "help I need an energy boost", more stimulants are consumed and the process continues.
2. The body needs nourishment which it is not getting
The brain tell us to eat more and more, simply because the food we eat is not good enough. Weight issues revolve around the fact that these sweetened foods are packed full of energy and contain very little in the way of essential nutrients. The body needs a certain amount of nutrients to function properly and it is not getting it no matter how much is consumed so the brain telling us to keep eating more.
The solution to the problem is to consume natural food. Natural foods contain the most highly concentrated levels of nutrients. As soon as a food is processed, a lot of the nutrients are stripped out.
