With a name like the 10 Pool Speedling Rush, you would expect this to be quick and nasty. And it is.
Speedlings are Zerglings with the speed upgrade 'Metabolic Boost' and whether or not you use them in a rush or more sophisticated tactics, they're a lot of fun to direct.
This is more akin to the Terran Reaper Rush than others as it's mainly used to harass your opponent and cripple his economy moreso than to win overall. Often, as we've see with other types of rush tactics, if your opponent has no sense of humour he might quit in disgust after a short burst of 'noob' or 'gay'. But who cares, right? You're not in this to make friends.
Start off building drones and once your sick of creating those revolting creatures (at 10) build yourself a Spawning Pool.
Once your Spawning Pool is on its merry way, start off an extractor for all that lovely gas and stick 3 drones on it immediately.
Keep your drones at 10 and once the Spawning Pool is finished birth a queen and then research metabolic boost.
Keep producing Zerglings until as well as after the metabolic boost is finished. You'll notice they zip around like mad and the extra speed comes in very handy, especially against Terrans.
If you're fighting Protoss and all he has is slow Zealots, you'll be laughing.
If you're opponent has been prepping for a rush himself, you'll find that when you start pinging Speedlings into his base he'll have a large enough army that you can't immediately wipe it out. In that case, start harassing his workers. They don't last long against a dozen speedlings and lead the enemy military units a merry chase. What you also might want to do in this case is to split your speedlings into 2 or more control groups. One can distract, or pull off, the military units, whilst the other group reaps worker genocide.
Don't be discouraged if, in predictable fashion, your Protoss enemy has lain down 45 cannons he built in 5 seconds. Just zoom right past them. The majority of Protoss players just rely on the power of the cannon and pay no heed to their placement.
Remember to keep your base ticking over. Upgrade your hatchery etc, so that when you've irreperably crippled your enemy's economy you move way ahead and in 10 minutes or so you'll be victorious.
If your opponent's army is tiny you may well be able to overrun him completely. Wouldn't that be nice?
Zerg is taking a bit of a bashing at the moment and not many are playing them. It's a shame as they are perceived as a bit weak, but you can use this to your advantage. Most opponents won't be so used to what the Zerg can do, and many players will never have seen a 10 Pool Speedling Rush.
