Texas Photography - Two-Steppin' Your Way Through the Lonestar State With Your Camera

Expert Author A Schult

To photograph virtually anything in Texas, you need a wide-angle view. As any proud Texan will tell you: Everything's bigger in Texas. Cattle ranches are like oceans of grassland feeding enormous herds of livestock, including the famous longhorn steer. Texas hospitality is just as big, whether it's a friendly church dinner in a small town, a roadside barbecue restaurant with a huge open pit of sizzlin' brisket and ribs, or the giant, 52-foot Big Tex statue welcoming everyone to the Texas State Fair.

It's tough to decide where your Texas photography journey should begin. In fact, it will likely require multiple visits to see and enjoy everything Texas. You could start with the big cities. Dallas, the big D, may appear to be all business, but it also has a vital arts district and is the home of the Texas State Fair and many well-known professional sports teams. Being located on the Gulf of Mexico, Houston is one of the most important seaports in the U.S. Great ships make great photography subjects. Johnson Space Center is also located in Houston. It offers an exciting and educational tour for the entire family.

You'll find many of your best Texas photography opportunities in Austin and San Antonio. Austin is self-proclaimed as the Live Music Capital of the World. It hosts many major music festivals throughout the year, including the Austin City Limit Music Festival, but there's great live music being played in Austin every night of the year. San Antonio is a favorite vacation destination for million of visitors, annually. The city's downtown area is one of the best places to photograph your fun, with the River Walk's shops, restaurants and cultural events as major attractions.
