The Terran Thor rush is one of the most complex strategies in StarCraft 2 and requires the delicate use of micro management of units. This means taking the time to look at each and every placement of opponent's units and monitoring the movements of your own unit. You have to take control without fear and keep yourself on the edge! Here are some excellent counters you want to watch out for when using a Terran Thor rush in order to prepare yourself for the defenses.

First of all, massing speedlings are a horrible sight for Thors! They have very little splash damage and have difficulty turning around to catch fast zerglings that are swarming around them. This means that once a Thor is surrounded by a small unit like the speedling, it is a situation in with a Terran Thor rush will be uselessly deflected. Don't let it happen. If you see speedlings, mass hellions or marauders instead!

Next most common Thor Rush weakness is quite likely the immortal. An immortal has a high impact shielding, which is the worst thing possible for a Thor to encounter. Any damage dealt to an immortal will be reduced to 10. So the Thor's massive cannon now becomes an average hit to an immortal. Avoid putting Thors against immortals at all costs!

Finally, watch out for massive amounts of marines and marauders when you are Thor rushing. A Thor has a difficult time when surrounded because it takes so long to turn and adjust to multiple targets, so large amounts of marines do quite a bit of damage on Thors. Keep this in mind before you decide to send a Terran Thor rush to your opponent.
