A notable 10% of women are unable to orgasm with their partners or when they masturbate. Women with this problem are a common feature in my therapy practice. During the initial session, they are concerned with what they need to know about achieving orgasms.
The issue of the incorporation of tension and relaxation during sex is a crucial discovery. The second mystery is regards how the combination can be made possible.
Women's orgasms are generated by the constriction of their muscles, scientifically known as myotonia. Women typically feel like they should never be tense if they want to reach orgasm. This is a mindset that has made women believe that total relaxation is the only way to enjoy sexual activity. Light has been shed on the importance of tense muscles and their role in orgasm. The first orgasm for many women is stimulated by the tension in their abdominal, buttock and leg muscles. Built up tension in the feet and the upper body have also proven to be effective for some women.
Very few women are able to orgasm without any form of tension. The sensation felt in the lower pelvis causes contractions that lead to orgasms. The muscles contracted in this area are the same ones used to interrupt the flow of urine and they tighten during orgasm.
The muscles form the pubococcygeus group of muscles. When these muscles are tightened consciously, they constitute the Kegel exercise that strengthens the walls of the pelvis. These muscles are tensed up during sex because flow of blood in the body increases as a result. When this blood flows to the genital area, the path to orgasm is laid out.
Where does relaxation begin? It begins in the brain. Women who relax during sex do not have concerns in their minds, questions or an urgency to complete the task at hand. They concentrate on what they are feeling at the time and enjoy the moment.
The silent radio technique can be used to keep the feeling of relaxation. This is in relation to the silent radios use in public to soothe people when they wait for service. Thinking of the Times Square sign is another good idea. This usually has a continuous flow of information across the screen.
This sign can be envisioned and in a woman's mind, the type of information that would be displayed includes "I will enjoy this moment for all it is worth" and "This is fun". These types of repetitive thoughts are essential for sustained arousal and they dissuade any other thoughts that may spoil the sexual mood.
At a glance, these two suggestions appear to contradict each other but they are actually feasible. If they are given a chance, a woman will have the power to orgasm as she desires.
