Some people have said that with age comes beauty. That can be acceptable, as one grows older and wiser their outlook on life my go from the tumulus times of their youth to the patience and wisdom of age. That, of course, is speaking of inner beauty. But what if your outward appearance leaves you with the impression of wearing the Sahara Desert on your face? Worry not, there are solutions that offer you temporary face lifts that are easy to use as well as less expensive that surgical treatments.

There are many factors that promote the fine lines and wrinkles that appear on your face: heredity - you can not do to much with that one; smoking - the obvious solution would be to quit; and sun exposure - your occupation and sun bathing habits may need to be altered to minimize the effects of the sun. Yet there are treatments you can do right in the privacy of your own home to aid in appearing more youthful.

If your occupation requires you to spend long periods of time out in the sun then applying a sunscreen that has a high SPF factor is a must for reducing the damage done to your skin. You may also want to look into sunscreens that protect against UVA rays, as most sunscreens on the market only protect against the sun burning UVB rays.

Alpha-hydroxy acids or "fruit acids" contain both glycolic and lactic acid and only slight improvements in the appearance of fine wrinkles. Creams that contain these acids may cause temporary irritation but are otherwise safe to use.

If you would like wrinkles to temporarily look less prominent then the use of an ordinary moisturizer will do the trick. However, if you are looking for results that last longer you may want to try a Vitamin A Acid which contains tretinoin, Retin-A and Renova. While this ingredient found in prescription creams have the best success record, some redness and peeling may occur for first time users. Reducing the amount of cream applied or using the cream less often will allow your skin to get accustomed to it, therefore minimizing discomfort.

And finally, antioxidants that include vitamins A, C and E, as well as beta-carotene. Not only do creams that contain these ingredients improve the appearance of fine wrinkles but they offer a small degree of protection against sun exposure.
