Foundation repair must be done right away once there is a single sign of damage in your home. Over time, damage on structures and homes are inevitable. The damage can be unsafe for the people living in it.
Foundation repair may be done due to the following occurrences; natural catastrophes like earthquake and flooding, problems arising from the poor compaction and expansive soil.
The following are the common techniques used for patching up foundation.
Concrete Repair
Slabjacking and hydraulic piering are the most common methods of repairing concrete foundations. Slabjacking is done through the pumping of cement through excavated holes. The grout solidifies into a concrete mass. For larger foundation problems, piering is done to steady the foundation. Piering is done by mechanically lifting the beam through the use of mechanical jacks. Once it is raised, footing and pier are strategically placed to support the foundation beam. The pier used may be a drilled bell and helical. Drilled bell pier makes use of an 11 feet belled shafts that are drilled through the foundation and poured with concrete cement. Helical pier method is done by installing and locking a helix plate that is 11 inches in diameter in the foundation.
Pressed Pilings
This method is budget friendly. It involves placing concrete cylinders beneath the foundation. This works for a temporary foundation.
Plate Anchors
These are used to stabilize cracked and bowed walls. It adds lateral force that supports the walls in the home. This is very economical and requires negligible excavation.
Foundation repair techniques vary depending on the problem. Find a contractor that makes use of all the highest quality materials before employing their service.
