One: Never lose sight that everyone started in this business as a newbie.
Imagine your first day on the job coming out of college. Was it easy or was it pretty challenging? Remember that every new associate starts his business as a newbie, most have probably never ever been involved in network marketing and even more have never been a business owner. It is you as the leader's job to help your new associate adapt to the new environment as a business owner.
Two: Expand your business partner's belief in them and in their business.
The three things most likely to hamper your new associates from becoming successful are Information overload, Procrastination, and a Lack of Self Esteem. It is your job to help them over that hurdle and provide them with the belief that they need in the company and its products or products. Make sure they understand you enrolled them because you saw great qualities in them and you are available to them to help them become the leaders they are destined to be.
Three: Help your business partners qualify immediately for quick start bonuses.
Most every Network Marketing company has some sort of quickstart bonus or pacesetter bonus. It most often relates to the new associate signing up a certain amount of new customers within a certain time frame and is almost always very attainable. You need to help them and guide them to hit that bonus in the time allotted for it. This elevates their belief in themselves and in you as the leader. Nothing increases belief like that first check within weeks of joining a solid network marketing business.
Four: Guide them through the training they need to become successful.
If your company does not have a very well developed training program you probably need to reconsider your association with that company. Reputable companies will always have very good online and offline training available for new associates to help them in customer and associate gathering activities. Most companies teach offline methods such as telephone prospecting and face to face prospecting of both warm market and cold market prospects. It is always a good idea to first master these techniques before venturing out into the online world where it seems easy but it really isn't especially if you have never ever done it before.
Five: Help them set up clear bite size goals to their next promotion and encourage them to track their activity against those goals on a daily basis.
Goals without actions are completely and utterly meaningless. Help your associates understand exactly what is required from them to promote and then help them to set small and manageable goals that will lead them on the way to attaining the promotion. Ensure that they document what they do and compare that against their goals and keep them accountable for the attaining of the goals.
Six: Encourage business partners to team up with accountability partners and have regular scheduled meetings.
Starting a new business is already an incredibly difficult thing. Trying to start a network marketing business without support is close to impossible. Get your associates to team up with each other as accountability partners. Never team up opposite sexes and don't even allow it to happen spontaneously. You don't need your business to spontaneously combust! Accountability partners will hold each others feet to the fire and make sure those goals are met and that appointments are set. If the match doesn't work for example, both partners are lacking self esteem or love to procrastinate, and then make a change in the accountability partnerships until you get the right mix.
Seven: Get them to start enrolling customers and business associates immediately.
You now have them setting goals to attain promotions, you have them setting appointments, and now they must start doing the business. We are in the sorting business and for that we need people to sort. Work with your business partners to determine where and how they will prospect once they have talked to their immediate top ten hot prospects. This is a critical phase of the teaming journey. The team needs to start thinking out of the box to attract new prospects and new customers. As the leader you don't have to do it for them but you need to encourage and provide advice. A great way to ensure success is to have the teams get together on teleconferences on a frequent basis and discuss what worked for each team. Provide input into each other and help one another grow.
Eight: Encourage everyone to become an expert in a prospecting system that is duplicable.
Not everyone is an online guru and in the same way not everyone is a "in your face I talk to anyone and everyone" type of person. Recognize that in your teams and encourage them to explore the ways that is what they like to do and what they do good. There are many different ways of prospecting. Work with the accountability teams and understand what they like and encourage them to become the best they can in that method. They can then become coaches of that method to other members in your team and share knowledge that way. Very powerful!
Nine: Lead by example by staying engaged in their business and by leading by example.
Don't expect your team to be doing all of this while you sit back and do nothing. You must lead by example. If the team is setting 5 appointments per week you need to set 6 or 7. If they gain 5 customers a month you need to gain 6 or 7. You must become a master motivator and a master network marketer. Attend company meetings and training events and encourage your team to do the same.
Ten: Identify issues that are hampering your business partners from being successful and help them identify it themselves.
The better you start to know your teams and your leaders the better you can guide them and help them when they hit roadblocks. Remember, your relationship with these associates don't end when you sponsor them. It is only at is beginning phases. You need to get to know them and understand who they are and what they are. You will be successful if you create ongoing relationships with people on your team that will survive any network marketing company. You can best help people if they know you are helping them correct bad or incorrect behavior because you are for them.
Eleven: Celebrate wins.
Success, you associate and his accountability partner reached their first promotion. Make a big deal out of it. Call them, email them, send them chocolates, get your sponsor to call them, do whatever it takes to make them feel special and be real. People love appreciation and respect. Don't be shy in giving in then you will also receive it.
Twelve: Show them the magic of residual income.
Once they get to their first leadership position they will start getting those magic residual income checks. Make sure they understand the concept of residual income and how it will change their lives. Show them how adding one extra leg to their business can expand their residual income. Show them how extra customers can expand their residual income. Once an associate totally understands the power of residual income they will be hooked.
Thirteen: Encourage edification of leaders and association with successful people both within and outside of your business group.
Whenever you talk with your group make sure they understand you respect your upline and what they have accomplished. If you do that with them, then they will do it with you with their groups. We need to build each other up and be respectful of achievement. Never ever associate with "black holes". Those people who seem to suck the life out of you and who always complain. Get rid of them, even if it is family and best friends. Start associating with successful and like minded people and see how your self esteem and mindset will change. Read uplifting and educational books and watch great videos. Cancel your cable or satellite subscriptions and sue that money to purchase newspaper ads or something like that.
Fourteen: Never ever surrender your own will and desire to win and be successful.
For you to become successful in network marketing, or any business for that matter, is to follow through on your decision and commitment once the emotion and excitement is over. I guess it holds true for other areas of life also, such as marriage and education.
