If you have done any significant research on Frozen Shoulder Syndrome or Adhesive Capsulitis, then by now you are aware that there are thousands of different remedies, some good, some bad, which treat frozen shoulder pain and loss of motion. Therefore the internet, in all of its wonderful glory and information, can actually be a hindrance to those seeking a program which proper properly exercises frozen shoulder tissues. With this, the sheer amount of available information we can only assume that some remedies are simply ineffective and some are actually harmful the the person with little knowledge of this painful condition. Here are some facts about FSS remedies/programs which will help guide the individual in making good choices about which path to take in treating a frozen shoulder:

  • Programs or products that focus entirely on pain reduction - These programs or products are leaving out the crucial element in any frozen shoulder remedy -- gaining ROM. While there are products such as patches or rubs that are effective in relieving pain, these are only short term. Frozen shoulder must be treated with specific exercises to increase ROM in order to truly provide lasting relief and return of function.
  • Products that guarantee instant relief -- There is no product or program or exercise available anywhere that will give instantaneous relief of pain or instant return of normal shoulder motion. Steer clear of such extraordinary claims. Relief of pain and return of ROM is a steady process which requires persistence, education, and patience, and cannot be achieved overnight.
  • Websites or exercise programs which offer general advice about shoulder pain or relief of pain -- "Frozen Shoulder Syndrome" (FSS) can sometimes be a "catchall" phrase describing general shoulder pain and dysfunction, but is actually meant to describe Adhesive Capsulitis which is a specific diagnosis with specific symptoms and presentation. It is very possible to begin following advice on a website for treatment of frozen shoulder which is actually meant to treat stiffness and pain from a rotator cuff tear or following a healed humerus (upper arm) fracture. Treating Adhesive Capsulitis with rotator cuff exercises can be detrimental to relieving the pain and dysfunction from a true clinical frozen shoulder.

While most sites or programs can provide some meaningful and helpful information, one must be aware of information coming from individuals or sites that seem to have no credentials whatsoever. By following the above information and educating yourself in this condition you will be less apt to fall victim to scams and more able to find a program targeted for Frozen Shoulder Syndrome or Adhesive Capsulitis which properly exercises frozen shoulder.
