Sometimes, it takes a breakup for us to realize that we were taking our significant other for granted, or that we're ready to really focus on our relationship. There are two choices here: moving on with life and wondering about the "what ifs", or getting the ex back.
It's going to take some effort to get your ex back, but don't get discouraged. About 90% of all the breakups that occur can be reversed, it's just that people don't bother to try. It takes a plan, you've got to think ahead and stay in control of your emotions.
Here's the thing, you need to know why you broke up in the first place. It's not possible to move forward without knowing what you need to fix in the future. So take a minute to yourself and think about why things ended up the way they did.
As every couple is different there are different reasons they break up. Everything from fighting to not spending enough time together. Especially taking your significant other for granted, that's terrible for a relationship. Ever notice how it's the "little things" that add up that seem to tear the relationship apart? This is a good time to be honest with yourself. If you can't recognize and come to terms with what happened and why you'll never be able to move forward.
After you've thought about things and figured out a way to avoid the same mistakes in the future you're going to need to practice some self-control. I know that it's tempting to call your ex and tell them all about what you've figured out, but you can't.
You've got to leave your ex alone for a while, space is good for both of you. This isn't the time to try and get your ex to get back with you, make them jealous, or fight with them. You have to be above the "average" tactics.
Eventually you're going to need to talk to your ex. This isn't the time to announce that you've taken them for granted, or be crying at their feet. You want to keep all conversation topics neutral, and positive. Talking about getting back together right now isn't going to do much for you, and you'll just have to work even harder to get their attention next time.
Chances are that you realized too late that you've taken your ex for granted. Maybe they were a great listener, lover, or your best friend. Your life isn't the same without them, and frankly they just can't be replaced. It's really important that once you've started talking to your ex again that you show them how things are better as opposed to telling them. Words can only go so far, so use your actions to show this person that you really care about them.
It may sound strange but, it really works. Of course there is a lot more to it that you've got to know before you go out to get your ex back. All you need is the right advice and you'll be on your way.
