Ah, summer... the best time of year for kids activities because the days stretch out before them, one after another with lots of TIME. But then again, lots of time on their hands can also mean bored kids who have run out of ideas.
Here are some summer kids activities ideas to jump start their little creative brains and get them busy playing again. Note that these summer kids activities are a little more involved, to keep them busy longer!
Scavenger hunt.
Ask your child to come up with a list of things to find around the house, yard, or neighborhood. Then he/she can invite some friends over to go on the scavenger hunt.
Invent a recipe.
This one may require adult supervision depending on your child's age, but let them invent a cookie, pie, or smoothie. They can then write/print up the recipe all nice and send it out to Grandma. Or they may want to make their own cookbook with the new recipe inside.
3 or 5 day summer camp.
Camp ideas:
Watch Movies
Bake Cookies
Nature Walks
Cheers/cheerleading/tumbling
Art Work
Sidewalk Chalk
Book Club
Sports
Board Games
Your child can make flyers about the camp to hand out to the neighborhood kids. They might wish to charge a few dollars to cover the costs of providing snacks during the camp.
Obstacle course.
There are many objects around your house the kids can use for an obstacle course. They can run around rocks, jump over a sidewalk-chalked river, crawl under the patio table and so on. They may want you to video them after they've perfected it.
Build a village.
Bring the Legos outside in the dirt. They can make houses, buildings and cars with the building blocks, and then make roads, hills, and lakes in the dirt. Hose the blocks off before you bring them back inside. If there isn't any dirt, they can draw roads and parking lots with sidewalk chalk or even use masking tape.
Neighborhood game day for kids.
Your kids can make a bean bag toss, spin the wheel, ring bottle toss, bingo and more, that neighbor children can buy tickets for and win penny prizes or candy.
Surprise Packages.
The next time you're at the store, have your kids pick out some wrapped candy and little inexpensive toys. They can make up small packages with stickers and a few picked flowers. Then they can leave them at their friends' doorsteps, ring the bell, and run away.
There you have 7 summer kids activities ideas for your children to do this summer. Some days the kids are plain bored and need some ideas from you to get them going. Now you can come to the rescue.
