In part one of this article we learned that Desire = Discipline. We discovered that a person's true desire is only as great as the discipline they are willing to put forth to achieve the desire.
It is simple for someone to say, "I desire to have a home-based business." Anyone can say those words. Anyone can have that wish, but it is only the individual who is willing to be disciplined, doing what is necessary to actually create a home-based business, that TRULY has an authentic desire.
Why the emphasis on focus? Focus is the difference between being productive with your discipline and actually being wasteful with your discipline. Focus can be the difference between time that is wasted and time that produces results.
Focus encourages a person to measure every action against their objectives. Learn to ask yourself the following question at any point in time: Is the activity I'm doing now getting me one step closer to my desire? If you answer yes, then ask yourself another question: Is what I'm doing at this very moment moving me towards my desire quicker than anything else I could be doing at this time?
Focus is what keeps you from wasting discipline. Focus is the difference between spinning your wheels and winning the race. Focus is the difference between almost succeeding and actually succeeding. Focus is the difference between meandering your way to a goal in the shortest possible distance between today and achieving your desire.
Even though this is not a difficult concept to grasp, it is very hard to live with this kind of focus. In order to focus on our desire, we need to honestly evaluate our actions and the reasons behind what we are doing. We need to be diligent in asking the "focus question" about everything we do. We must be honest about the authenticity of our desire is it evidenced by our discipline and controlled focus or is our desire just meant to impress others?
A true desire is only as real as the extent of the discipline employed to achieve that desire. Discipline is the most productive and effective when it is sharply focused. Remember that to focus means that you evaluate every action to see if it moves you one step closer to your desire at the quickest possible rate.
