Picture this-your boss just walks into the office with a frown on his face. Taking a look at him you know that he is terrible in a terrible mood and you hope that you will be last person he wants to talk to that morning. You go about quietly doing your work and the boss calls you, as you tread in cautiously, you get to face a full blown angry outburst (maybe for a spelling error you made in your report.)

Even as you try to understand your boss behavior and discount it for some incident that happened before he came to office, you are deeply hurt. Then you think how too are guilty of this behavior at times. You might have had an argument with your spouse or parent and come to office in a bad mood and taken out your anger or subordinates. Or you had a conflict with a colleague and shouted at your family at home.

Such misplaced anger or emotional outbursts happens all the time in our lives, we are either guilty of it or are victims. The result is it makes everyone unhappy. First it is not fair to get angry with someone for no reason more so when they have no role to play in your bad mood and cause the loss of respect of others have for you. Moreover it also is an example of rude behavior.

Letting another person face your angry outburst when they do not warrant it is as rude as you can get. If not getting angry, you can be in a bad mood, sulking and unresponsive to the other person. This kind of behavior is damaging to any relationship and can cause conflicts. Most of us are guilty of such behavior, at home outside and at work. For those dealing with customers and clients, such behavior can cost them their business. It is important that we learn to leave our feelings of anger, frustration or disappointment at the door before we enter any place whether the home or office.

When we carry such feelings with us, it will obviously show while interacting with others. Without our knowledge, we may be guilt of certain behavior that will appear rude, immature and even offensive to others.

The solution is to learn to control your emotions and feelings. To do this first stop and analyze your thoughts and the reasons for your angry feelings, then remind yourself that the person you are talking to it is in no way responsible for those feelings. If you feel like shouting at someone, take a deep breath, count to ten and calm yourself before talking. Next, no matter how tumultuous the emotions inside you do not let it show, instead put a smile on your face and get on with your work. Remember where you are and the behavior people expect from you especially at the workplace.

Once you have regained composure talk to the other person or answer that phone call and remember not to let your anger take control of you.

Of course there may be times when you are the unwarranted recipient of someone else s anger will certainly feel hurt. So the next time certainly feel hurt. So the next time you feel like shouting at someone, think about this and gain control over feelings. Being labeled as rude by others is the last thing you want.
