Stop Your Acne From Becoming a Recurring Problem

Expert Author Robert Reddin

Your acne is a condition that has its root cause internally and manifests itself on your skin. It will spread if left untreated, and will recur if you only treat the external symptoms. So, how do you choose the acne treatment that is right for you?

The first thing you must do is accept that there is no magical overnight cure which works for every single acne sufferer, no matter what it says on the container.

It is not all bad news though. Your acne can be successfully treated by using a combination of good hygiene and diet and lifestyle changes. You must treat your condition holistically. That is, tackling the internal cause of your blemishes as well as treating the outbreak.

The main cause of your acne is internal. It is caused by an imbalance of hormones and the accumulation of toxins in your body. You may not realize it, but your body eliminates waste through your skin. When your pores become blocked the bacteria on your skin can cause an infection, resulting in a break out.

Most acne treatments only deal with the symptoms by unblocking your pores and killing the bacteria. You should was your face twice a day with a gently exfoliating face wash that is suitable for your skin type. This will keep your pores clear and avoid any irritation. You should apply a suitable topical treatment to your breakouts to reduce the inflammation. It is important, however, that you understand that this is only part of what you need to do to get rid of your acne.

You must also tackle the internal causes. Most likely, that will require making modifications to your diet and to your lifestyle. It is axiomatic that you become what you eat. Having a healthy diet is fundamental to successfully treating your acne and preventing it from becoming a recurring problem.

There are specific foods that you should avoid or cut down on. Nature designed milk as the ideal food for baby cows, not for humans. Milk and other dairy products can cause a flare up of an existing outbreak. Restrict your consumption of milk to having it on your breakfast cereal and in a cup of coffee or tea. Leave it at that. You are also advised to reduce the amount of sodas that you drink. Replace them with cold water. That will help flush out the toxins and excess hormones through your kidneys, not your face.

Eating five portions of different fruits and vegetables each day will ensure that you get all the vitamins and minerals your body need for good health. In addition, it ensures that you get adequate amounts of dietary fibre, which is important for maintaining a healthy digestive system. That in turn helps eliminate waste other than through your skin.

Become more physically active. Taking regular amounts of moderate exercise will improve your blood circulation and increase your oxygen intake. Exercise will also help to keep your hormonal balance in equilibrium. Get out into the sunshine for at least 20 minutes every day. This has three main benefits. Firstly, your body makes vitamin D from sunlight; secondly, sun light helps to clear up your spots; and thirdly, it will also make you feel better.

Your condition need not be a recurring problem. You can successfully treat your condition by talking the internal causes as well as the external symptoms of your acne.
