Stop Making Another Big Mistake in Google AdWords - Failure to Track

Expert Author Ralph Altman

Google AdWords advertising, the worlds largest Internet advertising market, can drive more traffic, more customers and more business to your website and when done correctly, is highly cost effective. So what is another one of the biggest mistakes businesses make with their Google AdWords campaigns? By failing to install website tracking software, such as Google Analytics, they are missing out on valuable free information on the who, what, when and where of people visiting your website.

Every business owner knows the value and necessity of conducting advertising and marketing programs to get more customers to their store and/or website. Traditional advertising methods such as yellow pages, TV and radio commercials, newspaper display ads and even signage all bring customers in the door, but how do you really know where a new customer came from? It is not easy!

With Internet marketing, it can be easy, if you know the technology tools needed to measure and track performance on your website. After all, your website is your virtual storefront, so if you want to know things like how many people visited your site, how long they stayed, which pages they visited and, most importantly, the referring website, link or ad that sent them there, you need to install Google Analytics on your site.

Setting up Google Analytics is not too difficult, but does require you or your webmaster to load a small piece of programming code on your home page. After it is installed, you can garner a vast amount of info on which one of your Google ads or other electronic advertising methods are sending visitors to your site. By adding advanced features such as conversion tracking, you can even start to determine the return on investment (ROI) of your advertisements and devote more of your valuable advertising dollars to the methods that are working for you.
