What is the number one problem in America, for most of us right now? Being overweight! It is a huge industry, one that promises many things, and usually does not bring good results. I have some insight for you, and really hope you will be brave enough to continue with my thought.
You are the answer.
Yes, ridiculous as it may sound, you are the answer. Ok, you can sign up for a registered dietician, a nutritionist, and an exercise trainer, but if you are hanging out with your negative thoughts and excuses, you will fail.
You can buy the best diet plan out there, but if you do not commit body and soul to the program, you will fail.
If you are not open minded, and are stubborn with keeping your excuses close to your internal dialogue, you will fail.
Harsh words, but this is the reason that most Americans fail at weight loss. It is true our food is really tempting, has many preservatives and chemicals, better options are harder to find, and we are constantly getting incorrect messages from radio and TV, but, if you are not changing your internal dialogue, you will fail.
So how do you over step this obstacle? The best way is what I am calling the George Costanza Method. Yes, you remember George from Seinfeld right? The one idea I am referring to is an idea that will be your revelation as well-when George decides to make a lifestyle change.
He doesn't do something directly, but simply put, he does the Opposite of What he Normally Would Do. Silly, right? The results were great for George. He was breaking through his internal dialogue of excuses, fear, worries and general hangups-things that George really has many to overcome.
Not only did he have issues with work, friends, food and his family, he had issues with new situations, and events. He needed to do the opposite!
George changes his internal dialogue, and finds that new doors open for him, both in life and in his goals. He was a burden on himself, he was stopping every new initiative he ever started, just by his thoughts. It is a powerful technique!
Motivation, commitment, and empowerment are the keys to changing any way of life. If you think of yourself as a fat person, you will never be the thin person you dream about. You must think in a new fashion, you must fight your excuses and fears, and trump them into submission. It will change your life!
This change, to think in a new way is a struggle. You will have days where your negative thoughts will be too much for you. Every addict knows this, but, what they realize when they end their addiction, even if they fail, they did not fail forever. They just failed for today. Say this again, I only failed for today. I am not failing forever.
This is key! If you find your pledge to your weight loss to be suffering, and you have experienced some failures with following your new lifestyle choices with food, exercise and dedication, do not give up.
You should be more like George and do the Opposite.
