You have browsed through different online stores, looked at different brands such as Babybliss Pro Ceramic and Chi flat Irons, and now you have finally found the right hair iron that will be most suitable for your hair type and texture.

But the next thing you need to do now is to know the proper usage of this piece of hair equipment. You might think that the process of using this is as simple as plugging the appliance and inserting your hair through the plates.

But the truth is, there are other things you need to do to ensure that you get the perfect straight hair that you have always wanted. Here are the basic steps on how to use a flat iron.

Step One - The best way to start your hair ironing activity is to ensure that your hair is clean and dry. It is best to iron your hair after you have shampooed and conditioned it with moisture-rich formula. Dry your hair completely because even a slightly damp hair can end up being cooked or fried.

Step Two - Apply a generous amount of heat protection spray on your tresses to protect it during the heat styling process. This is also important because the result of having great looking hair will last longer.

Step Three - Set the hair iron in the right heat temperature. Remember that for normal hair, you can use a temperature of 360 to 380 degrees Fahrenheit, coarse and thick hair can tolerate heat as high as 380 to 410 degrees Fahrenheit and fragile, thin and fine hair should only be heated with a temperature of below 360 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step Four - Divide your hair into small sections that are no wider than the heating plates of your hair iron. The smaller the hair sections are, the better and more evenly you will be able to work on your hair. This will result in a cleaner and more beautiful straightened finish.

Step Five - Starting from the roots, pull the flat iron slowly in between the sections of your hair. Comb your hair after each draw.

Step Six - Repeat the process until your whole hair has become fully straight.

Step Seven - Put a small amount of a styling product on your straightened hair to extend the life of your hairdo. You can opt to use a hairspray, mousse or gel.

Some things to remember:

1. The base of your hair needs more amount of heat than the hair ends.
2. Use low temperature if your hair is thin, color-treated or have been previously damaged.
3. A second run will improve even very coarse hair
4. Choose only excellent quality hair irons. One of the most popular choices to consider is the Babybliss Pro Ceramic.

It is quite common to hear women complain that their flat irons are not effective. But sometimes, it is just because they do not know how to use this piece of hair equipment properly. If you do not do it right, you would surely end up with an uneven or fried hair. But if you follow the useful steps instructed above, you would have fabulous straight hair that will outshine everybody.
