Most women are somewhat patient when it comes to most matters, but when love is involved we can be a little eager. When we meet a man and fall in love with him, visions of weddings and happy-ever-after futures start dancing in our heads. Naturally, the next logical step after you've been dating the man you love for sometime is a more serious commitment. Not all men view things the same way though and many aren't in any rush at all to take things to the next level. If you're living in a relationship like this, don't give up hope for an engagement ring in your near future. Making him commit may have more to do with your actions than you realize.

Making him commit has a lot more to do with what you do than what you say. As women, we tend to be very vocal about what we're feeling and what we want. If we are hoping for a marriage proposal we may start dropping very obvious hints to our boyfriend. If he's hesitant about the idea of a commitment, he's going to pull back even more if you constantly talk about it. If your goal is getting him to commit to you, you need to stop talking about marriage. Don't mention it again. Men expect the women they love to want a serious relationship. If you suddenly seem to not be interested in that, he's going to become more interested in it. It's part of the push and pull of romantic relationships. If he feels you slipping away, he's going to do everything he can to pull you back, even if it means committing to you.

When a man feels that he's completely won a woman over he really sees no reason to rush into a commitment. He's got you all to himself so he knows that whether he proposes or not won't change anything. He believes you're there to stay so he won't hurry into anything serious. When this starts to happen in a relationship a woman has to do just one small thing to change it. She has to start to become less available to her guy. If you believe your boyfriend has this attitude, create some distance between you two. Be subtle about it and do it gradually. Once he starts to sense that you're not feeling as connected to him as you once did, he'll see the commitment issue through a new set of eyes.
