Staying Positive For Productivity

Expert Author Kristen Burgess

A positive frame of mind is powerful. Staying positive lets you overcome challenges, setbacks, and even failure. It's a driving force that keeps your productivity high. You may feel like affirmations and other such "techniques" are not for you, or you simply don't have time for them - but regardless of what you call it, keeping a positive state of mind is important.

Start by working to separate work from your home life and leisure time. This is important because really enjoying your time off keeps you positive and your productivity high. It's also important to focus on your work when you're at work, or when it's time for you to work. If something about home is stressing you out at work, let it go at the door and focus on your work. Your productivity from work will provide a small measure of comfort as you work out issues at home.

Separating out different aspects of your life can help you keep an upbeat attitude because you're able to refresh your mind while you're away from the stressful situation.

One important aspect of a positive attitude is remembering that everything will not come at one time. It's true that some goals will seem to happen quickly and with little effort. But for other goals it's going to take work - maybe even a lot of work and time. You might need to change beliefs, habits, and life situations. Long-term goals are often like this. Don't let that get you down.

Remember that part of the process of getting to your goal is becoming the person you want to be when you reach your goal. In other words, if your goal is to make a lot of money, you need to learn to think and act like a successful business person does on the way to getting that money. Once you've become that person, the money comes easily. You grow as you work towards your goals.

I mentioned positive affirmation at the beginning of this article, and I think that's a great way to keep your mindset positive. But even if you don't really want to get into affirmations, there are a couple of points that you should consider.

First, if you keep on repeating something, over and over, it will eventually be ingrained in your mind. So you should keep some positive things "spinning" around in your mind.

I highly recommend that even if you don't want to use positive affirmations, that you write out some statements that put a positive spin on challenges. Some examples would be "every failure is the seed of an equivalent or greater success" (Napoleon Hill), or "all problems are a test to see if you're worthy for success." Keep repeating statements like these when you feel discouraged. Remind yourself that all situations are valuable for learning. Ask yourself how you can use a bad situation to your advantage - right now.

This line of thinking puts a powerful spin on the negative. It empowers you to learn, grow, and move on to success. You become and overcomer.

Keeping a positive mindset will greatly help boost your productivity. You'll find yourself looking for the lessons and opportunities granted to you by each new day. You'll take advantage of these opportunities to improve yourself, your efficiency, and your productivity.
