When deciding which home based business company to join there are several key ingredients that you must have if you expect to experience success. If the company you are considering does not have these key ingredients, don't stop your search quite yet. I'm sure that anyone who is considering a home based-business has already taken into consideration that there is only a small percentage of people who ever make really serious money. By serious, I'm referring to upwards of 15K per month. There are a few reasons why this is the case. Simply put, the perseverance and mind set of the individual play a huge role, and just as importantly, do they have a quality company behind their business with the key ingredients to success? Here are a few tips which will help you determine if a home-based business is right for you, and if so, does the company you are investigating contain the elements necessary for success?

1. Would Joining for Free Really Make You Feel Comfortable?
If you are considering a company with hopes of making a six-figure income joining for free should make you nervous. WHY? One reason is because the owners of a legitimate home based business where making serious money is a real possibility are not going to waste their time training people that aren't really vested in the opportunity. Secondly, what does FREE say about the quality of the product and company itself? Not much in my opinion. So how much can you expect to invest to get started with a quality home-based business company? I would say between $1,500 and $3,000, a small price to pay for a potential six-figure income. You should choose a company that allows you to start making money from day one. If the company you are considering requires "training sales" or "pass up" sales before you make any money, you can do better because there are companies that do not require this. One last tip, whatever company you do choose should offer a relatively quick return on your investment. It should not take you years to make up your initial cost. Just a few sales should do the trick.

2. Finding the Right Company and Mentor
If you have been doing any serious research, you probably know that many people are staying away from MLM businesses these days, and for good reason. The basis behind this is that they usually only offer small profits while requiring a lot of time to build a downline and they usually have high failure rates. I suggest you find a company with a Top Tier Direct Sales system in place. Top Tier Direct Sales companies often allow for larger commissions anywhere between 1 and 15K per sale!

Equally as important as the right company is a mentor that will work with you to achieve your personal and financial goals. You must be able to trust this person and feel like they are there for you. You want a leader who is having success in the business themselves and can show you the step-by-step process to get to that level. They should be able to show you marketing techniques and tools to help you find success.

3. Training Must Be In Place
Training is not something you should have to do yourself over and over with each new business partner. There should be training provided by the company itself so that you can spend your valuable time marketing and bringing on more potential associates. Company trainings could include phone calls, webinars, and video tutorials on topics such as marketing and ways to improve your business. While you will do some training of your associates, you shouldn't be expected to do it all. The company should have top-notch trained professionals in the various areas of home-based businesses providing daily trainings.

4. Starting Part-Time with a Long-Time Vision
Any company you are considering should allow you to make money from home on a part-time basis. It is understandable that you cannot drop everything and dive in to this new endeavor full-time. You should however, be able to make money on a part-time basis until you can replace your current income and work from home full-time. It is your decision, and only yours as to when you are ready to tackle this new career on a full-time basis. Having a system that you can tap potential customers into which will do most of the selling for you, freeing up your time to be expanding your marketing and talking to other prospects is critical. Cold calling is not necessary. The company you choose should have a marketing system in place which brings interested persons to you, not visa versa. By following specific marketing techniques and simply having a conversation to see if your business is the right fit for the interested lead, you can eliminate any stress over the whole idea of selling. You shouldn't have to push your product, its quality should stand for itself and your job is just to simply make others aware of this opportunity.

Last but not least, enjoy what you do! You should be passionate, exuberant, and supportive of the company you choose. If you are not excited about the products and business opportunity you are offering, how can you expect others to be excited? Providing that you have joined the right company you will experience the freedom to work from home, be your own boss, and be in control of your own income! How much better does it get?
