Starcraft 2 Guide Terran Reaper Rush

Expert Author Steve Phipps

Let's get started with our Starcraft 2 strategy guide using the Terran Reaper Rush. This is one of a few opening moves that ca effectively be used when playing Terran in SC2.

The quickest variation of this opening requires you to build a Refinery and Barracks attach a tech lab and get a Reaper out as soon as you possibly can get it done.

The Rush is an opening designed to cripple the opponents economy and loses effectiveness once you get past early game play.

Reapers are pretty much immune to tier 1 units with the exception of zerglings on creeps and speedling that can catch up a surround the Reapers. This opening Rush is simply designed to reduce enemy economy more than the cost to create and use the Reaper rush giving you an economic advantage.

The Reaper Rush can be detected very easy by opponents in middle or late game by opponents that have done proper scouting so it is not advised.

There are a few effective counters to this opening move by Terran that can spoil a Reaper Rush.

A single Stalker or Marauder in the Mineral field, 2 marines versus 1 Reaper and a Photon Cannon or Spine colony plus any units to chase the Reapers.

The reason many want to start with an SC2 strategy of using Reaper is because of their ability to jump up and down cliffs which increases their overall survivability.

Many Starcraft 2 Strategy guides will include this as a top opening move as well as provide more detail and offer other great Starcraft 2 Terran, Zerg and Protoss moves like the Reaper Rush.

I have been following Shokz SC2 Mastery [http://www.starcraft2leveling.info] guide with pretty awesome results. He seems to have really mastered things well while in Beta.
