StarCraft 2 Protoss Strategy

Expert Author Nick Pateman

Protoss is an extremely powerful race in StarCraft 2. They have an unmatchable rushing ability with Zealots and proxy building. However Protoss does have its weaknesses. The three main strategy guidelines for your Protoss race are outlined below.

1. Zealot Rushing

Scout your enemy immediately and gather resources. Once you have found your opponent, you can either set up a proxy base by building a pylon with turrets and Zealots. Or you can immediately build Zealots and rally them straight outside the base. If your opponent is going for a macro build where they are attempting to gather as many resources as possible, it is likely that just 1 Zealot can wipe out their entire base. This applies moreso if they are Terran and haven't built a bunker.

2. Dark Templars

Using Dark Templars is an incredible powerful tool. If your opponent is Terran and relying on their command center to uncloak you, send 1 unit in at a time and tthey will run out of energy immediately, leaving them vulnerable. However if you see they have built Ravens this strategy is unwise as you will have a hard time staying cloaked.

3. Proxy Base

Do not underestimate the power of a proxy base! A lot of players may complain of 'cheese', but if you're convinced you can get away with setting up a base right outside of theirs, then it's a perfectly acceptable strategy. So how do you go about doing it?

Immediately scout their base with a worker. Once you have found your opponent, create a Pylon and then build 2 or 3 Photon turrets. Start creating Zealots from the poxy base and attack. If you're gathering a lot of resources during this time, you will be able to create a huge army right outside their base allowing for immediate attacking.
