Did you know that using slow, boring, standard cardio for fat burning might be the biggest weight loss scam of all time?
Of course you don't. That is because every weight loss expert out there pushes cardio down our throats.
Ok, well that is an exaggeration, not every expert does this...
Some emphasize HIIT, which stands for High Intensity Interval Training.
This approach is actually much more effective and efficient than standard slow cardio is.
Honestly here. Would you rather train hard for 20 minutes, 3 days a week...or for 60 minutes, 5 days a week?
That is what HIIT can do for you. It can shorten your workout time in half.
But not only that, it actually gives you better results too...
Studies from Australia have proven that Interval Training is far superior to slow, standard cardio.
In fact, only Interval Training has been proven to burn belly fat. Standard cardio can actually lead to weight gain.
How you ask?
Well it can cause you to be hungry after your workout. This makes you eat, negating most of your progress.
Eat too much though and not only will you reduce your progress, but you will negate it entirely.
This doesn't happen with HIIT.
Instead, Interval Training increases your metabolism post workout, so you continue to burn calories long after your workout is over.
Another benefit to High Intensity Interval Training is a reduction in over-use injuries.
I was around 160 pounds when I graduated high school in 2001. I had been doing some exercise throughout the years, mostly running...but I found myself weighing 208.5 back in January of this year.
I remember trying to run again and I nearly blew out my knees doing so.
I only wish I had known about Interval Training back then. I could have cut my workout time in half the time and given my body a day of rest in between workouts.
Alternatively I could keep running, hurt my knees, and been out of exercise for months.
I can only imagine how much weight I would have gained during that time.
I am now down to 192 lbs. and it is all thanks to a combination of Interval and Strength Training. I still have a long way to go, but then again I was really fat.
If you are serious about fat loss then I implore you to add Interval Training to your weight lifting program - you will shed the fat.
Just know that there are many types of interval and weight lifting programs/ at your disposal. Not all of them are created equal...
