In sales, whether that be online or off, customer leads are extremely important. This is because without leads, you won't get any sales. Sounds simple enough right?
But getting those leads can often be the most difficult part of the entire sales process. It takes time and energy to build up that lead list. One effective strategy though has become extremely popular through the years and that is building a squeeze page so that you can capture those leads. By capturing a lead and adding them to your auto-responder, you can then follow up with those folks and sell to them later on down the line.
While it might be tempting to purchase a lead list; that is a list of emails compiled by a company, those could, and in all likelihood will be considered spam. It is illegal for someone to simply send out an email to someone who has not specifically asked for it. Regardless of what purpose that email has; commercial or not. This is why so many online marketers turn to auto-responders to manage their leads for them.
They first set up a squeeze page which may give a product away in order to get someone to sign up for their list. This auto-responder program then sends out an email to the person who signed up and asks them to first confirm their email before receiving the product they signed up for. This reduces spam and the amount of spam complaints significantly. But first, you need to set up a squeeze page in the first place.
The best kinds of squeeze pages make it very easy for someone to sign up to your list by showing what's called an opt-in box somewhere near the top of the page that they're visiting. An opt-in box is provided by your auto-responder company and it's nothing more than a simple piece of javascript or html code that you then place on your page. Wherever you place this code, the opt-in box will appear. Once someone signs up to your list, the auto-responder takes care of confirming that lead for you.
Additionally, in order to encourage someone to sign up for your list, you must give away something of value. This can be an e-book that offers tips on how to do something related to your website's topic, a free set of videos explaining how to perform a task, or even free software. Regardless of what form the gift comes in, it must be considered valuable enough for someone to give up their email address.
Next, the page where you have your opt-in form located must contain an explanation of what the user would receive once they do sign up to your list and why it's important to them. "Timely tips for Website Traffic" doesn't really tell the user very much about what they'll receive.
On the other hand, "50 Ways to Start Getting Website Traffic as Soon as Today" tells them specifically what they'll get. This information can be either in written format, or, what now has become more popular, the video format where the site visitor will watch a video first about what they'll receive after signing up for your list. Of utmost importance is to explain the benefits to the site visitor. Always try to keep in mind what the site visitor is asking themselves "What's in it for me?"
When the squeeze page is done right, it will answer all of the questions for the site visitor in one fell swoop and will not leave them with any lingering questions in their mind. Website traffic is great yes, but you also need a way to capture and keep the traffic that you do get. The best way to do this is to set up a squeeze page that will give the visitor a gift and then explains why that gift is important.
