Sports Betting is the Business of Picking Winners

Expert Author Sam Oconnel

When it comes to sports betting, your business is picking winners. Most people are flying blind when it comes to doing that. In many cases they would better off flipping a coin.

The first thing you need to understand is that picking winners is, in fact, a business proposition. You need to do it in an orderly fashion, doing things the same way every time. If you don't know how you are winning, you are probably losing.

You also need to make sure your betting on a team that has a good probability of winning. That is situational. Identifying the situation should be done by a base handicapping system.

For example, you may want to bet on an NFL road underdog because they are given 13 points. The charts I use show a winning percent of almost 65 for that bet and it has proven to be a good one for me.

But that is only half the battle. A winner is motivated, so if you want to pick a winner you will find motivated teams to bet on. For that, I developed a chart to use in my business. After using the chart I arrive at a Motivation Factor. As long as the Motivation Factor is positive for the team my system recommends, I can bet it with confidence.

Sports betting is the business of picking winners. To do that you pick teams that have a probability advantage built into the game situation, all else being equal, and that outscore their opponent on the Motivation Factor. If a team might be lacking in motivation, you might want to rethink the bet.

Teams that have the probabilities on their side and are well motivated will win more than enough to make your bankroll smile. By not betting on teams that lack motivation you will both save and make a lot of money.

Let me show you how.
