Spectacular Content Presentation Tip - Is Anyone Going to Watch Your Internet Marketing Video?

Expert Author Pat Shanks

Getting Your Audience To Watch Your Video

One of the problems marketers have is communicating with the audience that is looking for the product they are selling. Unfortunately, this problem doesn't go away with video marketing. So don't forget some of the basics of plain marketing just because you have a video on your website.

It is critical that you engage your audience from the very beginning. Try to think of which videos you lose interest in and think about why you did. Was it boring? Was the quality bad? Could you not hear correctly? Or was it just not what you were looking for? While the last problem isn't something that you can do anything about, the previous things you can.

If you have a boring video, your site visitor will not become a customer. Well, you may get a few here and there, but remember... the more people that watch your video, the more sales you will have. I hate it when I go to a website and the only thing the video shows is some talking head reading to me the same content that is on the site. The video should engage the audience instead of turning them off. This part of the process requires that you have someone watch your video and ask their advice. Be prepared to be criticized and use that information carefully.

Bad quality video is another big turnoff. Video equipment is cheap enough and easy enough to use nowadays, that you have no excuse for crappy video. You can get great video for web applications with a $200 camcorder. It isn't that much of an investment and it will pay for itself in no time. Also if you are using Camtasia or some other computer screen capture software, make sure that you flow correctly, and don't jump around the screen too fast. People can't keep up with your train of thought, so don't make them try.

If people can't hear what you are saying, then you are dead in the water. Stop reading this article right now and go look at your TV. Turn off the volume and see how much you can understand of the program. Most of us can pretty much guess at the content of TV without audio, but there are always questions, and people miss a lot of information. Now turn up the volume and turn your back to the TV. Are you getting more information from the program? I'll bet the answer is yes. You probably aren't going to get 100% of the program, but you are probably getting 90% or better. Don't make people strain to hear what you are saying. Get a good quality microphone and learn to use is correctly. An example of the importance of audio is the movie "The Blair Witch Project". The video portion of that movie stunk to high heaven, but the audio drove the story so well that the movie broke all kinds of records.

Remember that getting a good quality video project is crucial to your success as a video marketer.
