Spectacular Content Creation Tips - Getting Good Content Into Your Articles

Once you've been convinced of the importance of writing articles for your site, you want to sit down and begin writing and then submitting those articles across the net to get exposure, postings, and key word visibility. But how can you ensure that the articles are actually "good?"

Here are a few things to keep in mind...

1. Keywords are important-but don't be a slave to them. Your article will be clunky and unreadable if you write it around the same keywords repeated throughout (or variations on those keywords). Incorporate the keywords you're going for into the title and then once or twice within the context of the article but don't go for "overkill"-the article becomes unreadable and, to say it bluntly, cheesy.

2. Find a good source for information-and bookmark it. Whether it's an online feed that you get on your phone, or a scholarly journal that you're able to read, understand, and then re-write for the masses-find some sources of research and stick with them. Just remember that when you're writing for the web you want the copy to be compelling, begin with a "hook"-and that your articles should be short and to the point, laid out with white space and, if possible, bullets and/or numbering.

3. Keep it short. No one is going to read 1000 words of copy in an online article. "1000 words", you say-that's pages and pages. No, 1000 words is about two pages written in a word-processing program. So if you find you have a great deal to say on any given topic, the solution is simple (and a win-win). You don't have an article, you have three articles! Four perhaps! Don't break them into clunky bits, but do put them into a series and post them next to each other or on successive days. You'll find that readability is greatly increased.

4. Illustrate your articles with examples, or even with pictures. Facts are best told with illustration or first-person stories or examples. Your readers will thank you for information that is both useful and readable.

5. Pay attention to who's out there, speaking and lecturing on your topic-and offer them guest rights. You'd be surprised how many people are more than willing to offer their expertise for free, in return for exposure. Even if it's not a direct fit, see if you can find a way to "trade expertise" on each other's sites for mutual benefit, if the topic is close enough to make sense. Quoting an expert, including a comment from said expert-all are options that help build your own content and your own credibility-and give you good karma, as well.

6. Find a reasonable sounding board... and this is probably not your mother. Find someone who will give you constructive criticism or reasonable advice, and don't be insulted if they don't tell you exactly what you want to hear. Instead, thank them and follow what they say, as far as you believe it will help.
