Getting 6 pack abs involves a combination of weight loss exercises, low calorie diet and exercises to strengthen and sculpt the abdominal muscles. You cannot hope to get 6 pack abs if you neglect any one of these three. For example, you can exercise your abs all you want, but if you are fat on your stomach these muscles will never be seen.
Like most people, you probably don't know exactly which exercises will help you sculpt your abdominal muscles. There are many exercises and they have to be done in a specific way to be of any use at all in getting 6 pack abs. Abs exercises have to be done in a technically correct manner and only for a certain amount of time. For example, stomach crunches have to be done by lying on the floor with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Keeping your arms across your chest, you should lift your head, shoulders and back off the ground. It is imperative that pressure is felt on the stomach and not on the neck or back.

You have to supplement these crunches by doing leg lifts. You can do them by lying flat on the floor, on your back, with your knees bent slightly. You should try and raise your legs together to a 90 degree angle and then slowly bring them down again.
The exercises you do for your abs should be done no more than three or four times a week. Your body needs time in between exercise sessions in which to recover. You should also not do too many repetitions of each exercise because your body will quickly become used to them. The best way to push your body's limits is to vary the style and intensity of the exercises as often as you can.
