Social Media Mindset - It Does Make a Difference

Expert Author Marcy Amaro

Are you one of the thousands of internet marketers trying to make it BIG with social media? Well, this might come as a surprise to you, but the first thing you need to work on is NOT your set-up or your profile, it's your mindset! Yes, there is such a thing as a social media mindset, and it makes a world of difference!

When the great minds that came up with Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and the other social media sites decided to put together their systems they did not envision becoming an extension of free classified sites. In fact, they are adamantly against having their members harassed by blatant advertising and sales pitches. What that means for us marketers is that there is absolutely no point in building a huge following in any of these sites if our actions will ultimately get us banned from the sites.

How do we avoid such a thing? Well, the answer is really quite simple. Develop the right kind of mindset as you approach these sites! When entering any social network your chief aim should be to BUILD RELATIONSHIPS! This is attraction marketing at its best. See, people don't buy into a business, they join YOU! Therefore, your goal in this type of marketing is not necessarily to convince people of the value in your product, but to get them to trust you. Then, and only then, will they be willing to accept your suggestions and recommendations.

What is the best way to build relationships on these sites that will still lead to a sale? The keyword here is value. As long as you provide real value, real content that others can benefit from, everything else will fall into place.

Using social media as a means of marketing requires the development of appropriate social media mindset. Once you establish the right kind of rapport with your followers and friends, the opportunities for business will easily present themselves.
