I see this happening all the time. People getting resell rights or branding rights to a particular product. Unfortunately, a lot of people haven't a clue what this means, or what this entails, especially new marketers. You read those long sales pages stating how fantastic this opportunity is, testimonials from others who've tried the system and are absolutely touting its potential. Sign up now and it comes with rebranding or resell rights. You can make that sales page your own and if you make a sale, the money is all yours. You may not know what resell rights are or even what rebranding is but you do know that whatever it is, it sounds fantastic. You get to keep all the money when you make a sale, it could be $10, $27 or more, but it's all yours. Looks good, sounds good.
So you click to sign up. You plunk down your $197 or whatever the cost, but for purposes of this article, we'll say $197, to get the cashflow going, you'll make it back within a few days. You just have to add your own information and viola, you're in business. Then you download your new opportunity. Congratulations, you've just purchased a $197 gorilla.
Now you have your program and it's zipped, which means it's been compressed to a smaller size making it easier to download and won't take up as much precious storage space. Once you get it, you have to unzip it. You need an unzip program which will decompress the files so you can find the files you need to add your information to. If you don't have one, you'll have to download one, which is no biggie, because that's probably the easiest thing you'll have to do.
Once you unzip it, you'll have to extract the files, locate the sales page, edit the page with all your information using an html editor, so the information has your name and not the person who sold it to you. Change the payment processor so that it's you that gets paid and not the person who sold it to you. (The Gorilla is probably beating it's chest pretty good about now, especially if you're new to this)
So now you have to open an account with a payment processor, such as PayPal, if you don't already have an account. Then you have to create a payment button to put on your site. You also have a few other things to do to make it your own, editing the thank you page, deciding what page to redirect to for cancellations, and maybe a few other things depending on the package you purchased.
Should you be able to handle all this, you now have to get a hosting service because these packages very seldom come with hosting. Then you have to upload your files to the hosting service so that people can see your opportunity. And don't get me started on getting traffic (people) to view your site. If after reading all of the above, you were scratching your head without a clue about what I was talking about, you need some schoolin'.
First lesson, don't buy $197 gorillas, don't even buy one for $97 or for $1.97, until you know what to do with it once you get it.
Second lesson, learn the techy stuff so you aren't floored when you get the gorilla home sorta speak.
Learn the terms, tools, what to do and where to go. This way you can make an informed decision about what products you want to spend your hard earned money on and which ones you can actually use. How many people have resell rights to products that they never used because they didn't know how to set them up? You don't want to be one of them.
