So You Want to Learn Hypnosis

Have you noticed that hypnosis seems to be everywhere lately? From print ads to television, on the Internet and even in everyday conversation, hypnosis is a hot topic. Well one reason for this is because a lot of people have found that hypnosis can actually help people in need. Many would be hypnotist have their own experience with hypnosis as a patient before going on to learn and practice on their own.
There are two avenues that can be taken when it comes to learning hypnosis. The first is primarily done for self-improvement and is often called autohypnosis or autosuggestion. This is usually the most common type of hypnotism that people are aware of because it's the simplest to learn. These are found in the form of hypnosis cd's or videos that can be purchased to help a person stop smoking, lose weight or improve their memory.
The second type and probably the one most people are really interested in, is suggestive hypnotism or as it is more scientifically known, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). This is the more interesting avenue that can be taken when learning hypnosis; this is the type of hypnotism you see practiced on stage or in television.
Now there are a lot of ways that you can learn hypnosis or NLP but the best way to do that is still through books. There have been a number of authors published on this topic over the years and it's up to your individual taste as to which one to pick up and read.
If you're in the marketing field or if you want to learn hypnosis to help you in your business then you can consider Donald Moine's books and power selling courses. Though his popularity peaked during the 1990's, his techniques are still considered relevant. A more socially inclined application would point you to books by Kevin Hogan or Larry McLauchlin as their books focus more on using hypnosis to help you in your social life and improve your self-confidence.
A more in-depth guide to learn hypnosis will bring you to books on NLP. Now there are a lot of practitioners of NLP and if you really choose to study it, you'll learn know the different practices and schools. However to get you started you can consider books by Sydney Rosen who builds his style of NLP from the first person to document it as a practice, Milton Erickson. On the lighter side, Neil Strauss is also a successful NLP guru that has built a career applying NLP as a method of teaching people how they can become pickup artists.
All in all, the path to learn hypnosis is an easy one but as with anything else that's worth it, it will involve a lot of dedication and patience to learn. It's going to involve a lot of practice and trial and error but if you're serious about using hypnosis in improving your life then it's only a matter of choosing the path to take.
