You want a six pack because it is truly a trophy of fitness. It not only tells the world that you have respect for your body and you have worked hard to transform it, but it also increases your overall health. You may consider a six pack as a sign that someone really spends a lot of time in the gym. But that is not the whole picture, a healthy diet is also necessary to maintain a low percentage of body fat.
The self discipline required to develop your abdominals into a rock hard six is a synergy between diet and exercise. The reward of meeting this challenge is a set of abs that will be the envy of everyone you know.
Outlined below are a set of exercises that will get you the trophy six pack you desire.
This workout is to be performed three times per week. One set of 8-12 reps should be a good start as these ab exercises are difficult. Increase your sets only after you are able to crank out 15 repetitions in perfect form.
The Weighted Crunch
With your back on the ground, bend your knees and place your feet flat on the floor. Hold a light weight between your hands and extend your arms out towards your bent knees. Lift your shoulders and head off the ground and move into a crunch, make sure you keep your arms straight. Contract your abs throughout the movement letting them do the work. If you need to, have someone hold your feet or secure them under a fixed object.
V-Ups
Lie flat over the floor and keep your hands extended over the head and slowly raise your knees and upper part of body without flexing your knees. Now touch your raised feet with your fingers. Gradually return to the initial position, relax yourself and repeat again either with or without using a weight between your feet.
The Ball Plank
This is truly an ab shredding exercise. The exercise is performed with your feet on an exercise ball in a push up position. Make sure your hands are shoulder width apart; your legs should be straight and your feet on the ball. Hold your body straight (like a plank). Push back on your hands, your arms should be slightly out in front of you. Hold the plank position for 60 seconds.
