Six Pack Abs Workout - 5 Key Rules to Unlock Your Abdominals

If you've spent any amount of time researching techniques to develop six pack abs, you may have already noticed that there is a ton of conflicting and confusing advice out there. Although, most would agree, that the tips I am about to present are no nonsense facts that will help you, your abs and overall health. Here are five hard and fast rules to help you with your six pack abs workout.

Stay Away From High Sodium Foods

Consuming too much sodium causes your body to retain water which will make you look fatter than you actually are. Limiting the sodium in your diet can also increase your bodies' efficiency and help it to burn fat better. Avoid canned and processed foods in favor of fresh fruit and vegetables. Sodium is a major component in the preservation process for canned and prepackaged food. In addition, these types of products are typically loaded with high fructose corn syrup and unhealthy trans fats.

Alcohol

An occasional beer, wine or cocktail won't ruin your efforts at the gym. If drinking is a regular indulgence, it will definitely pile on the abdominal fat. Studies have demonstrated that frequent consumption of alcohol increases fat storage in the abdominal region (and increases overall body fat). If you are serious about developing those ripped abs, then limit your consumption to at least one or two nights a week.

Stay Hydrated

Believe it or not, drinking enough water helps the body burn fat properly. It maintains exercise performance and helps you eat less by lowering your appetite. Avoid sweet drinks such as juices, energy drinks and diet sodas which are loaded with chemicals. The additional sodium and calories contained in these drinks will be deposited as body fat or leave you bloated.

Buy Knowledge, Not Pills

If you value your body and your wallet, stay away from meal replacement products and fat loss supplements. Most of these products will only leave you broke. These pills, powders and serums are a real waste of money and will not help you to develop your six pack. You will get a much better return on your investment by purchasing time with a personal trainer or buying fitness books written by professionals.

Work Smarter Not Harder

One last point I would like to drive home. Knowledge has a tremendous value on your overall health; in fact I would say that it's priceless. I suspect that you are one who knows the value in developing your mind as well as your body (you are after all, reading this). If you can spend half as much time researching human physiology and training techniques as you do in the gym, the benefits will come back to you in spades. Seek wisdom and you shall find it and may the search never end.
