Simplified Websites For Affiliate Marketers

Expert Author Fred Lancer

To be successful in affiliate marketing, it takes investment in time and effort. Very few affiliates will generate huge incomes instantly after enrolling; although this is absolutely possible, it is not usual. Those that are successful instantly, and those that prosper over a longer time never put it down only to luck. This is not a lottery; it takes effort and time, but the rewards are worth it.

When you consider starting an affiliate marketing program, you must consider having your own website; and not your average website, but one that shows your professionalism. What are the criteria for a professional and attractive website for an affiliate marketer? How is it built? Can this be done easily? What will it cost?

As a first step, you must choose a theme, in an area that you know something about. The products and/or services that you will be promoting as an affiliate should be related to the theme your website or blog. Often, the subject of the page aids in doing a layout of the page. Keywords as part of the domain name are important for search engines to find your site, therefore drawing more visitors, drawing more clicks, drawing more sales for the primary merchant, so he makes more sales, and you make more commission. The importance of a domain name cannot be stressed enough. The top level domain ( such as.com or.net or.org) is important too, because they are more usually searched.

The domain name you choose should be related to your subject. Get the name reserved and hosted, but when selecting a web host or server, be sure to check guaranteed up time and security of the server. The lowest priced is not always best, although it may be. Check several hosting companies before deciding on one.

After the above steps, you can start designing your webpage. If you are not an expert in building web pages, don't despair. Search out web pages that have page generation and fast launch tools. Some trial and error and learning will be necessary to build your page, before it is put on line.

In most cases, stay away from animated pages. They are "cool" for web designers, but the customer usually won't wait while they load and dance and explode and waste their time. Stay on the subject, and allow the surfer get to it quickly. User friendly, simple and easy to navigate are key; and when combined with accurate content, will earn you customers and commissions. If you are well acquainted with the subject of your website, it is a great help, as you will be able to judge what is attractive and useful to the kind of customer you wish to attract to your page, and what you want to guide them to purchase from the primary merchant.

Building your own site from scratch will increase your knowledge and skills of the web and technology, and may be enjoyable too. And if you build your own, you will then know how to build a second and a third, and how to better compete against other affiliate marketers out there. Alternately, if you do not have the time, patience or expertise to build your own site, there are many companies that will build it for you, but this is an added input cost. Consider both options, then get your page up and running.

Quality content on your site is an absolute must to draw surfers. There are certainly other factors to attract traffic, but content is number one; it is why users come to your site. The surfer knows what information he wants; he did not come to your site to buy something, he came to learn something, but while he is there, you can tell him about a related product or service. And the more accurate and easy to use the information on your site is, people will want to link their site to yours, translating to more traffic and more sales and commissions.

Be careful that the products you are guiding them to are not hyped too much, it will turn people off, and they will avoid your site. The information about the product should be accurate and informative. You should also add links to other sites related to your subject as they also help the search engine find you.

Make your website crisp and business like, not a personal gossip and visiting website. (Although that can be an acceptable facet in the right place if you choose.) You know that your website is a marketing website, but the surfer should not recognize that immediately, or he will leave. Make sure there is a little "eye candy" on the site to grab the attention of the casual surfer to look further. Use banners of course, but don't use too many, or completely unrelated banners; it will drive users away.

Once you are satisfied with your website, and it is up and running, submit the URL to major search engines to increase our traffic. Research how key words work, and how search engines work, and make your website be noticed and more traffic and more clicks and more sales and more commissions.

And monitor the website constantly. Have a monthly news letter the is informative and useful, not just a sales blurb. It will grow and grow, as will your commissions. Treat your affiliate marketing website right, and it will treat you right for a long time to come.
