You've finally done it, you've started your own home business - in network marketing.

Congratulations are in order. But I bet you're wondering what to do next?

How do you start making money - right?

Most network marketing companies recommend you spend some time going over your "warm market" list, thinking of friends and family you can contact to see whether or not they're interested in building their own business. For me this made no sense. I wasn't building "my own" business in order to hit up my friends and family, I wanted my business to be "my own."

Don't you want your business to be your own too?

Usually, this "warm market" tactic that most companies recommend is met with a surprising "cold shoulder" from people you know well. Many newbie network marketers are asked by their family "what do you know about business?" Sometimes their friends and family see the network marketing arena as one big scam and make no bones about saying so.

Most folks, after approaching a few friends and family members think "hmmm, maybe this business isn't going to be quite as easy as I thought."

And after a few weeks of constant rejection, the luster fades from the shiny new home-business and within a month or two network marketing has just left sour taste in their mouth.

So why do people fail? Is it just that network marketing doesn't work?

People try to build their networking business the wrong way.

They aren't taught that they're in business to build a network of "like-minded" individuals. To the new networker everyone is a prospect. This mentality is destructive since the perfect sales lead for network marketing should be a very focused and targeted prospect.

So how do you generate a focused sales lead for network marketing? Good question.

Start by looking at your product and focus on how you became interested in it. There must have been something about it that made you say "hey I could sell that stuff, that makes a lot of sense to me, let me know more."

"Let me know more," the 4 most beautiful words to any marketer.

Those words are the buying signal you should look for in every target group that you'd like to begin prospecting. For example, say you're selling legal services to individuals. Who is going to want to "know more" about your product? A single mother who has just filed for divorce after 5 years of marriage, or a college student planning this weekend's party schedule? Both might soon need your network marketing company's services, but only one is probably going to have the foresight to buy them.

So why choose the newly separated mother? Simple, because she needs your services, they may help her solve her need for low cost legal advice. Under the surface she stands to lose more than what your service costs her per month. You job as a network marketer is to give her information about how you can help, she can then help you build a bigger stronger network marketing business.

That's a good starting point for your next marketing campaign to generate the perfect sales lead for network marketing.
